"the qcam upload policy has indeed changed. this change, plus switching cell providers, allowed us to keep the $24/mo price. the new upload policy is:

upload on cell if the route is viewed in connect
upload on cell if there's a user bookmark anywhere in the route
always upload on wifi

most qcams were never viewed, so it made sense to do this rather than raise the price. definitely room for UX improvement and better predicting if you're gonna view the route"

Install node.js / https://nodejs.org/en/download
Install pnpm / https://pnpm.io/installation
Install GitHub Desktop / https://desktop.github.com/
Clone repo / https://github.com/commaai/connect
In GitHub Desktop, Click on "History"
Right-click on the commit named "prime lite is $10 (#436)" (SHA: "f9ca21e201a1874360442cf2f6c2e7b9556c8b62")
Click "Create branch from commit"
Name your branch "{YOUR_GITHUB_USERNAME}-clip-recovery" and click "Create Branch"
- MAJOR NOTE: DO NOT commit your BRANCH back to the original repo. EVER! (This is an 'emergency fix' that is not intended to be included in future releases)
Go to repo main dir in PowerShell
pnpm install
pnpm serve
GoTo: http://localhost:5173/ (or whatever pnpm outputs as "Local:")
Log-in via your method (confirmed working using google auth) and click on "View Clips"

Thanks to @nelsonjchen for helping me work out these steps!

Note: When downloading, most of my clips were 'corrupt' and missing frames. VLC was able to play them and thankfully what I needed was between issue portions. But, I can fully watch all of my clips in the browser and can screencap them for full quality.

"Use mpv video player on linux to stream full res videos directly from comma's servers using my commaapitool on github.
I have it set to live crop the steering wheel out of dcamera and overlay onto ecamera to see who's steering while watching the road/ecamera.
This creates a playlist of ecams+dcams for each segment in the route for mpv to play.
Automatically goes to next segment after one finishes, or you can skip to whichever segment number you want with mpv next/prev button things."

after cloning, place your commaapi jwt in a text file under etc/credentials/jwt
as well as your dongle id in etc/credentials/dongle

"My noob-self finally got it working from the advice of @Panda of using Putty (previously only used Powershell) to create the needed files, then some trial and error with copy and pasting the correct text, followed by watching https://youtu.be/2pQh9sPuSr8 and his other related videos. I couldn’t get the file itself loaded on my phone so it was a bunch of copy and pasting to finally get it to stick."
